For 73 years, the Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition has showcased the finest domestic and international vintages through a wine-tasting event that is widely considered to be one of the most prestigious in the United States. May 21st, 2012, New York, NY- Cliff Creek Cellars takes Gold for 2006 Claret and is named Oregon Winery of the Year at the New York International Wine Competition. NYIWC welcomed over 800 submissions from the United States and countries from all over the world.
The NYIWC is the only major international wine competition to be judged solely by trade buyers. Each wine is judged by its category and retail price. All participating judges have purchasing power through their stores, restaurants, distribution networks, which results in their ability to have a direct impact on brand sales.

The 2006 Claret wins the only Gold Medal awarded to an Oregon wine at the New York International Wine Competition on May 6th. The 2008 Merlot won a Bronze Medal.
