2014 Cabernet Sauvignon
The wine starts out with a fresh black currant aroma and a hint of Eucalyptus. The wine fills your mouth with juicy threads of boysenberry, raspberry and cherry. A touch of tobacco swirls around the berries and the flavors extend through to the elegant finish of soft, polished tannins.
Sams Valley Vineyard
The 2014 vintage in Southern Oregon ended up as the warmest on record, breaking the previous record years of 1992 and 2013 by a substantial margin. The growing season was largely free from extreme weather risks, with little to no frost pressure in the spring, no rain during bloom, and very little rain during harvest. Even a one day recording breaking rainfall of 2.02” on September 24th could not put a damper on the season. While in the middle of a fairly significant drought over the western US, Southern Oregon received just enough late spring rains and had few intense heat spikes to make it through the warm year with an early and abundant harvest of well-balanced fruit.
